Wind Chill Advisory in Effect for Southeast Michigan

However, no Birmingham schools are closed Tuesday due to the weather.

A wind chill advisory is in effect for Birmingham and much of southeast Michigan, the National Weather Service announced Monday evening. The blistering cold winter weather has already caused several Metro Detroit classes for Tuesday, though Birmingham Public Schools and the city's private schools remain open for the day. The NWS reports that this "shot of arctic air ... will be the coldest of the season." Temperatures will drop to the single digits and as low as -5 heading into Tuesday morning. The wind chill is expected to hit as low as 25 degrees below zero. The wind chill advisory remains in effect until 1 p.m. Tuesday in several counties, including: Wayne, Washtenaw, Macomb, Oakland, Livingston and Genesee. The NWS warns that prolonged…
