Check out the latest reports from the Birmingham Police Department: Birmingham Police are investigating after five automotive battery cores worth $200 were stolen from Batteries Plus sometime between 11 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. Sunday. According to police reports, this is the second battery core theft at Batteries Plus in a week. A man was arrested on theft charges last Friday afternoon after Varsity Shop employees told police they caught him stealing Detroit Tigers hats. According to police reports, employees saw the man place three ballcaps under his coat around 12:45 p.m. Friday at the downtown sports shop. Check out the latest reports from the Birmingham Police Department: Police arrested a 29-year-old Toledo man early Sunday morning after he attemped to flee police. According to reports, officers attempted to stop the man, who was driving northbound on Woodward near 14 Mile, for driving erratically around 4 a.m. The car continued northbound, turning north onto Adams, east onto Maple and north on Eton, the report says. The car finally stopped at North Eton and Yorkshire. Police found marijuana in the car, later arresting the driver on charges of fleeing and eluding, driving with a suspended license, operating while intoxicated and marijuana possession. Dogs Help Thwart Attempted Home Invasions on Webster and Pilgrim, Police Say

Check out the latest reports from the Birmingham Police Department: Birmingham police are investigating two attempted home invasions from the past week. According to police, the first incident occurred between 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday on the 1300 block of Webster. Reports state an unknown person or persons tried to enter the home through an unlocked kitchen window. The would-be home invaders never entered the house, police say, likely because of a "very large" dog that was home at the time. The second attempted home invasion occured at 11 p.m. Wednesday on the 1100 block of Pilgrim. Police Arrest North Carolina Man In Connection With Door-to-Door Solicitor Case

Authorities arrested a man in connection with a suspected larceny from a home on the 1600 block of Bowers on July 2. Birmingham Police said Thursday that a 25-year-old man from Lincolnton, NC is the suspect who claimed to be a door-to-door magazine salesman. According to police reports, the man told a woman on Bowers that he was selling magazines for World Wide Circulation, Inc., a company based in St. Clair Shores. The woman let the man inside her home while she went to find her purse, reports state, and while she was distracted, the man ran out the house with her wallet. A neighbor later found the wallet on a nearby sidewalk but the cash was missing. A K-9 unit was unable to locate the man. The incident wasn't the first time Birmingham …
