'Serial Bank Robber' Strikes Again, This Time in Royal Oak

A man who robbed a Main Street bank on Friday is believed to be a suspect in five other area robberies, including one in Birmingham.

A Royal Oak bank was the latest target of a "serial bank robber" who may have robbed a bank in Birmngham earlier this month. Last Friday, a man entered the Citizen’s Bank at 800 S. Main St. in Royal Oak with a handgun and got away with an undisclosed amount of money. The suspect matches the description of a masked man believed to have robbed several banks in the area, according to FBI spokesperson Simon Shaykhet. Since December, five other banks in Oakland County, including the Comerica Bank in Birmingham, in which a man dressed all in black took off with $9,000 on Feb. 8. Police See Connection Between Birmingham Robbery, Nearby Stick-Ups

Birmingham Police say Friday's robbery of Comerica Bank is similar to several recent bank robberies in Royal Oak, Berkley and Madison Heights.

Birmingham Police believe there may be a connection between Friday's robbery of the Comerica Bank on West Maple and several similar robberies in the area. On Friday, a masked man wearing all black robbed the Comerica Bank at 1712 W. Maple Rd., police reports state. The man pulled out the gun during the robbery, police say, and walked out with more than $9,000. According to Birmingham Lt. Mike Albrect, the detective in charge of the case, Birmingham Police is working with the FBI to catch the man. However, Albrect said the robbery might be connected to several other area robberies, including four in Royal Oak, Berkley and Madison Heights. Masked Man Robs Birmingham's Comerica Bank Friday Morning

Birmingham Police and the FBI are looking for a man who pulled out a hand gun during a robbery of the Comerica Bank on West Maple Road.

Birmingham Police are working with the FBI to investigate a Friday morning bank robbery at the Comerica Bank on West Maple Road in Birmingham. According to reports from the Birmingham Police Department, a lone suspect entered the bank, located at 1712 West Maple Rd., around 10:05 a.m. wearing a black ski mask and pulled out a hand gun. The man approached the tellers, police say, and demanded money. After tellers handed over their cash — at least $9,000, police say — the man fled the bank, running westbound along Maple. The bank, which is located at the intersection of West Maple and Chesterfield, is directly across the street from the Birmingham Fire Department's Chesterfield Station. Man Robs Comerica Bank at 14 Mile and Woodward

The man took an undisclosed amount of money from the Comerica Bank at 10 a.m. Tuesday, according to Birmingham Police.

Birmingham Police are searching for a man who robbed the Comerica Bank at 14 Mile and Woodward Tuesday morning. The man entered the bank around 10:05 a.m. and approached one of the tellers, according to a release from Birmingham Police Cmdr. Terry Kiernan. The man produced a note stating it was a robbery and to give him money. No weapon was seen or implied in the note, the release said. After the teller gave him an undisclosed amount of money from his drawer, the man left the bank and was last seen running west away from the bank. The man has been described as white, between 5-feet-7 and 5-feet-9, between 25 to 30 years old, with facial hair.
