Cloverleaf Fine Wine, Satay House Royal Oak’s Cloverleaf Fine Wine will host a limited-seating wine dinner to celebrate Valentine’s Day at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, at Satay House in Madison Heights. The 5-course Malaysian meal with wine pairings will cost $60 per person. A portion of each ticket will benefit the South Oakland YMCA. Satay House is located at 31101 Dequindre Road. Townsend Hotel Bakery to Close to Make Way for Lavazza Coffee Partnership

The Townsend Hotel Bakery will close Saturday through Feb. 9 as the hotel renovates the space and updates the menu.

Anyone up for coffee? The Townsend Hotel Bakery will be closing Saturday to make way for new partnership between the hotel and Lavazza Coffee, an premier Italian coffee brand. According to Townsend Managing Director Steven Kalczynski, the bakery will be closed through Feb. 9 while the hotel renovates the space and upgrades the menu. Involved in this process will be the Townsend Hotel's newly-hired executive chef, Drew Sayes. "The Townsend Bakery team is certainly excited about these changes," Kalczynski said. "Of course, the Townsend Bakery will continue to offer the region's finest cakes, cookies and sandwiches." Best Thing We Ate This Week: Wrap from Townsend Hotel Bakery

I was surprised to learn this week that the Townsend Hotel Bakery offers delicious box lunches.

I needed a quick lunch while I was downtown this week, but I didn't have time to stray too far from the Shain Park area. I strayed into the Townsend Hotel Bakery on a whim, thinking perhaps a cupcake or two could hold me over, when I discovered a popular lunch spot with plenty of options. I went with bakery's chicken Caesar wrap, knowing that wraps plus chicken Caesar salad is always a good standby if you're new to any restaurant. The Townsend not only made my sandwich fresh — which I'm used to at several other sandwich joints around town — but the service was fast, and I liked how if you wanted a soda, you could purchase a can and not a 20-ounce bottle. (Who can drink all that soda during one sitting? I can't.) The wrap was fairly good — …
