Business Briefs: Azar's Celebrates 20th Anniversary and More

Also happening in Birmingham: Schakolad Birmingham Chocolate will be the first in Michigan to offer a special brewed chocolate drink while Equilibrium Pilates Studio moves to Franklin.

Here's a snapshot of what's going on in the Birmingham business community this week: Azar's Oriental Rugs is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. The rug shop, which specializes in selling, cleaning and repairing oriental rugs, is located at 670 S. Old Woodward and owner Azar Alizadeh told Downtown Birmingham/Bloomfield she's grateful for his loyal customers over the years. "It's nice to have customers who appreciate (our rugs) and beautify their homes with them," she said. Azar's Oriental Rugs has won the National Rug Retailer of the Year award from America's Mart. Feature Photo: Schakolad Auctions Off Giant Chocolate Bunny for Charity

The winning bid of $225 for the three-foot chocolate bunny went to the Bloomfield Hills-based Pink Fund.

Somebody now has a lot of chocolate to eat. Dave Hines was the winning bidder for a three-foot chocolate bunny from Schakolad. His winning bid of $225 went directly to the Pink Fund, a Bloomfield Hills-based charity that helps women with breast cancer.

Business Briefs: Schakolad Opens New Location, Plans to Partner With Nonprofits

Here's the snapshot of activity in Birmingham's business community this week: With a new year, comes a new location and new initiatives for Schakolad Birmingham Chocolate, which recently reopened at a new location at 1728 W. Maple Rd. The chocolate shop will be partnering with a different nonprofit organization every month in 2012, as well as creating a signature chocolate to match that organization. Every month, then, proceeds from the sale of the chocolate will go back toward the nonprofit. The initiative begins in February with The Community House. Also new at Schakolad's new location, the shop will now serve Chazzano coffee and Great Lakes Tea & Spice teas. More than 30 people turned out to the Jan. 10 grand reopening celebration of …
