Birmingham Home Invasion Suspect Charged

Lucious Brinson, 27, faces multiple felony counts stemming from an incident reported Friday, police said.

  A man suspected in at least one recent home invasion in the city of Birmingham will face a preliminary hearing on multiple felony charges in 48th District Court next week. Lucious Brinson, 27, is charged with home invasion, possession of burglary tools and possession of drugs, stemming from his April 19 arrest outside a home near downtown. He was released Monday after posting a $25,000 cash bond and is expected back in court next week, record show. Undercover officers with the Troy Police Department had Brinson under surveillance, and arrested him in the 1100 block of North Old Woodward after witnessing the home invasion crime, a news release stated. Sheriff Tells Oakland County Homeowners How to Avoid a Break-In

Make your home look occupied and difficult to break into, police advise.

Reports of multiple break-ins across Oakland County this month have police issuing warnings and tips to area homeowners. On Tuesday, Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard advised residents to take "simple steps to make your home more difficult to enter and less enticing to would-be burglars," he said in a release. Break-ins and home invasions are not uncommon in Birmingham, though the last incident occurred in mid-February, when a diamond ring was taken from a home on Pierce Street during the day.  Bouchard urged residents to make your home look occupied and difficult to break into by following these tips:

Bah Humbug! Thieves Steal Holiday Decorations, Gifts Ahead of Christmas

It's going to be a frustrating Christmas for several Birmingham residents after thieves made off with holiday decorations and gifts only days before Christmas. According to the Birmingham Police Department, the decorations were taken sometime between 8 a.m.-5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 12. A resident on the 2300 block of Radnor told police that several of their Christmas decorations, including lights and greenery, were stolen from the front of their home and yard. Police have no suspects so far. Meanwhile, on Sunday, a resident on the 1600 block of Webster reported that several packages left on his front porch had been stolen. Police Arrest Two Detroit Men Following Early Morning Home Invasion on Webster

One suspect was found near the Our Shepherd Lutheran School on Lincoln, forcing the school to go into lockdown Wednesday morning.

Two Detroit men were arrested Wednesday in connection with an early morning home invasion on Webster, forcing a lockdown at Our Shepherd Lutheran School as police searched the neighborhood for suspects. According to a release from the Birmingham Police Department, the home invasion occurred around 5:45 a.m. Wednesday on the 1600 block of Webster. Homeowners told police they were awakened by their home security alarm and discovered two men that had climbed in through the kitchen window. Both men, police say, then fled the house. Together with the Beverly Hills and Troy police departments, began searching the neighborhood for suspects, calling in a K-9 unit from Troy. Police: Drunk Driver Caught on Woodward, Man Ticketed for Urinating Outside Movie Theater

Check out the latest reports from the Birmingham Police Department: Birmingham police arrested a 23-year-old Troy woman on a drunken driving charge last Saturday. According to police reports, officers observed the woman's car driving northbound on Woodward near South Adams at about 2 a.m. According to the officer, both the woman's front and rear passenger side tires were flat. When police pulled her over, the woman failed several sobriety tests and was taken into custody, reports state. The woman was held until sober, posted bond and was later released. According to police reports, a homeowner on the 1500 block of Ruffner had his vehicle parked on the street, locked and running. Police Arrest Man in Connection With Four Birmingham Home Invasions

Police arrested the Troy man Monday after witnesses say he tried to climb into a home on Catalpa through the back window.

A Troy man has been arrested in connection with four Birmingham home invasions from the past week. Christopher Anthony Rousseau, 29, of Troy was arrested Monday afternoon after he was discovered trying to break into a home on the 500 block of Catalpa. According to police reports, Birmingham Police received a call around 2:20 p.m. Monday, with witnesses claiming an unknown man was attempting to enter a home on Catalpa through a back window. The man — later determined to be Rousseau — was arrested at his vehicle parked near Catalpa and Edgewood. Earlier that day, reports state, officers responded to a home invasion on the 1300 block of Shipman, where jewelry had been taken. Police Seeks Tips After Birmingham Woman Finds Strange Man in Basement

A man described as having short, dark hair and glasses was founding hiding in a woman's basement last Friday, police say.

The Birmingham Police Department is asking for the community's help finding a home invasion suspect, after a woman reported finding the man in her basement in the middle of the night. According a media alert from the police department, a homeowner on the 800 block of Hazel Street discovered the man sitting on the floor of her basement in the middle of the night on Friday, Oct. 26. According to Birmingham Police Chief Don Studt, the woman was alone in the house at the time and upon finding the man, she ran from the house and drove to the police station. By the time police arrived, Studt said, the man was gone. According to Studt, the man didn't attack the woman nor did he take or disturb anything in the house. Studt said they believe the …

McLaughlin Sunday afternoon, and according to Birmingham police, they may be responsible for several similar thefts throughout downtown. The store employee told police that upon entering the shop, one of the women began asking her about merchandise.
