Birmingham Biggby to Host 89X Guest Barista for 'A Season of Goodwill'

Goodwill Industries of Greater Detroit, 89x and Biggby Coffee locations across Metro Detroit are partnering for A Season of Goodwill.

Someone else will be pouring the coffee at Birmingham's Biggby Coffee on Wednesday, but it's all for a good cause. From noon-1 p.m. Wednesday, Birmingham's Biggby Coffee will play host to guest barista 89X-FM's Sarah Eatherly, who will be serving up coffee and collecting donations for Goodwill Industries. The project is part of a partnership with 89X and Goodwill Industries of Greater Detroit to collect new toys during the "Season of Goodwill" through Dec. 4. With any donation of a new, unwrapped toy at one of the 29 participating Biggby Coffee locations throughout Metro Detroit, including Birmingham, patrons will receive $1 off any grande or super specialty beverage. Donate money or toys at your local Caribou Coffee or bd's Mongolian Grill to benefit Goodwill Industries.

This is the fifth in a 30-day series of ways Patch community members can give back this holiday season. We hope you'll take part in this 30 Days of Giving, and take the spirit beyond the holidays, because there is "need" all year long. Good things come to those that give, and through Dec. 6, do-gooders will receive $1 off a future cup of joe at their local Caribou Coffee when they donate a toy to Goodwill Industries of Greater Detroit. Cranbrook Football Team Joins Fight For Local Jobs This Homecoming

School will help Goodwill Industries' "Dollars for Jobs" effort during Saturday's game against Southfield Christian.

The Cranbrook-Kingswood varsity high school football team is helping Goodwill Industries of Greater Detroit raise funds to fight Metro Detroit unemployment at its homecoming game Saturday against Southfield Christian at 2 p.m.  Cranbrook's team has designated the homecoming game as its official "Dollar for Jobs" event. Goodwill envelopes will be passed through the stands and fans are encouraged to donate a dollar and "pass it forward" to another fan, according to a news release. The goal of “Dollars for Jobs” is to engage young people from Metro Detroit in combating the region’s unemployment. The campaign offers teens and young adults the opportunity to help their family members and neighbors who may be out of work to earn a job with …
