The Detroit Symphony Orchestra will perform Thursday, April 4, at the Congregation Shaarey Zedek in Southfield, and Patch is giving you the chance to win free tickets. The DSO will perform Mozart’s “Jupiter” as part of its Neighborhood Concert Series. Bach’s Ricercare No. 2 and Britten’s Violin Concerto No. 1 also will be performed. American House and the DSO Expand Program for Local Seniors
The partnership will bring world-class musicians to more than 20 American House communities in 2013.
The Detroit Symphony Orchestra (DSO) and American House Senior Living Communities are teaming up in 2013 to bring DSO music to thousands of Metro Detroit seniors, including many in the Birmingham area. The DSO will be sending individual musicians and small ensembles to more than 20 American House locations throughout Metro Detroit, a recent press release said, as part of its Neighborhood Residency Initaitive. Launched in 2011, the Neighborhood Residency Initiative combines orchestra concerts and chamber music with educational and social service partnerships and senior engagement programs. DSO Young Musician Workshop Returns to Birmingham This Summer
The AVANTI Summer MusicFest will take place for the second year in a row at Derby Middle School July 22-27.
Attention young musicians: the Detroit Symphony Orchestra's (DSO) young musician workshop returns to Birmingham this summer and they're now accepting applications. The AVANTI Summer MusicFest returns to Derby Middle School this July for six days of intensive music workshops. The program is open to music students age 13-18 throughout Metro Detroit. During the program, students complete a week of intense study and instruction under the tutelage of 50 DSO musicans, including two hours a day in group rehearsal and two hours in sectionals. "My daughter grew musically at the AVANTI workshop last summer," said Laura Fogleman, parent of an AVANTI student. "Her technique improved and she became a more disciplined musician. DSO's Young Musician Program to Host Two Community Concerts Thursday, Friday
As part of the DSO's AVANTI Summer MusicFest, going on now at Derby Middle School, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra will perform two concerts at the First Presbyterian Church of Birmingham this Thursday and Friday.
Music students from around Metro Detroit are learning from the greats this week and on Thursday and Friday, Birmingham will set the stage for a special concert for young area musicians. Musicians of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra (MDSO) will perform two concerts at the First Presbyterian Church of Birmingham on Thursday and Friday as part of the AVANTI Summer MusicFest. The AVANTI Summer MusicFest is a collaboration between the MDSO, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra (DSO) and Save Our Symphony (SOS). Shain Park Nominated for Free DSO Neighborhood Concert
Shain Park is one of eight Oakland County venues nominated for a Detroit Symphony Orchestra concert.
Birmingham has a shot at winning a free concert from the Detroit Symphony Orchestra (DSO). Shain Park is one of the Oakland County nominees in a contest sponsored by the DSO and the DTE Energy Foundation. The concerts will take place the week of Sept. 17. Also nominated in Oakland County is Berkley High School, Clarkston High School, Clawson High School, Mercy High School, Novi High School, Southfield Pavillion and St. Patrick Parish in White Lake. Winners will be announced June 18.
