Best Thing We Ate: Restaurant Week at Cafe Via

We checked out Cafe Via's $30 menu during Birmingham Restaurant Week.

Monday was my first time at Cafe Via but I thought: what better time to check out this Birmingham favorite than during Birmingham Restaurant Week, when 20 select restaurants around town are offering $30 dinner and $15 lunch menus. At Cafe Via, there's something for every taste on their Restaurant Week dinner menu, including a choice of: I tried the crab cake, chicken and chocolate cake — all delicious — though my dining partner assured me the tomato bisque, pasta and apple crisp was equally great. Police Searching for Man Who Broke into Market Square

The following information was supplied by the Birmingham Police Department. Arrests or charges do not indicate a conviction.

Following is a roundup of recent Birmingham Police reports: Police are looking for a man who broke into Market Square early Monday. According to police reports, the man used a crowbar to smash the front glass door of the grocery around 6:15 a.m. Monday. He entered the building, not realizing there were already four employees at the store, the report said. One of the employees yelled at the man, who ran out of the store and northbound up Southfield Road. While running, the man dropped an empty cloth bag on the sidewalk as well as the crowbar, the report said. Later, when Birmingham Police and a state police K-9 unit were searching the area, the dog picked up the man’s track until the intersection of Southfield and Wakefield, the report said…
