Man-Eating Plant Takes the Stage in Latest Village Players Performance

The Birmingham Village Players will put on the science fiction favorite, 'Little Shop of Horrors,' beginning March 1.

Inspired by the science fiction tale first brought to life by Roger Corman, the Birmingham Village Players are bringing one of the most popular — and funniest — musicals to the Birmingham stage this winter: Little Shop of Horrors. The show opens at 8 p.m. March 1 and is set for a three-weekend run at the Birmingham theater on Woodward. As one of the longest-running off-Broadway shows of all time, Little Shop of Horrors stars a carnivorous, man-eating plant nurtured by the timid florist, Seymour Krelborn. The Village Players production is directed by Novi resident Kevin Branshaw, who promises audiences that the Village Players' production contains plenty of little "tweaks" that set this show apart from the various other stage iterations of …

Catch the Culprit During Village Players' Production of 'Murder on the Nile'

Starring several Birmingham and Bloomfield Township residents, this mystery play is based on a novel by Agatha Christie.

Local residents are the stars of the latest production from the Birmingham Village Players, Murder on the Nile, opening this Friday. Based on a similar novel, Death on the Nile, by famed mystery writer Agatha Christie, Murder on the Nile takes theater-goers to the exotic waters of the Nile River where someone has been murdered and it's up to the cast to figure out who's to blame. "This is a mind-boggling, brain-twisting, thrilling whodunit," said director Tim Wittlinger. "In typical Agatha Christie fashion, Murder on the Nile will keep you on the edge of your seat analyzing all 11 characters, each of whom has a motive for murder." Experience Old Hollywood With the Village Players' 'Sunset Boulevard'

The Birmingham Village Players continues their 90th season with 'Sunset Boulevard,' with the opening night curtain going up at 8 p.m. Nov. 2.

The second production in the Birmingham Village Players' 90th season is a throwback to the silent film era of Hollywood, Don Black and Christopher Hampton's Sunset Boulevard. The show opens at 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2 and is set for a three-weekend run at the Birmingham theater on Woodward. The Birmingham Village Players are the first Detroit-area community theater to stage this Tony Award-winning classic, which is based on the 1950's film of the same name. The music, including the songs "As If We Never Said Goodbye" and "With One Look," are written by Andrew Lloyd Webber.
