A pair of Beaumont officials will talk about the rising cost of healthcare and the impact of the Affordable Care Act during a special meeting next week.
How high will health care costs climb in the next few years? What will new government regulations mean for my family or my business? Those are the questions two Beaumont officials will try to answer next week at the Birmingham Bloomfield Chamber's 2013 Healthcare Forecast Breakfast, scheduled for 8 a.m. March 21 at the Townsend Hotel. Gene Michalski, president and CEO of Beaumont Health Systems, and Michael Herbert, senior vice president and executive director of Beaumont Physician Partners, will speak to how Birmingham-area businesses can "better navigate the health care minefield." Real estate expert David Trott and economist Paul Traub spoke at the Birmingham Bloomfield Chamber's Economic and Real Estate Breakfast Thursday.

Hatfield, an executive from the Birmingham-Bloomfield Credit Union, received the award during the Birmingham Bloomfield Chamber's annual meeting.
The Birmingham and Bloomfield business community honored one of its own Thursday morning, with Linda Hatfield being named the 2012 Business Person of the Year award from the Birmingham Bloomfield Chamber. Hatfield, vice president of marketing at the Birmingham-Bloomfield Credit Union, is also on the board of directors for the chamber as well as a several other area non-profits, including the Birmingham Rotary and CECAC. Hatfield received the award during the chamber's 65th annual meeting, held Thursday morning at the Birmingham Athletic Club. The 9th annual food and wine event hosted by the Birmingham Bloomfield Chamber will benefit the Gleaners Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan.
Get ready to dine for a good cause this week, with the Birmingham Bloomfield Chamber's Vine & Dine event this Wednesday at the Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center (BBAC). A portion of the proceeds from the 9th annual food and wine extravaganza will go to the Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan. "Vine & Dine is a fun night out to share with family and friends or entertain clients, while supporting those in need," said Andrea Kaczmarek, marketing and event manager for the chamber.
