DSO Young Musician Workshop Returns to Birmingham This Summer

The AVANTI Summer MusicFest will take place for the second year in a row at Derby Middle School July 22-27.

Attention young musicians: the Detroit Symphony Orchestra's (DSO) young musician workshop returns to Birmingham this summer and they're now accepting applications. The AVANTI Summer MusicFest returns to Derby Middle School this July for six days of intensive music workshops. The program is open to music students age 13-18 throughout Metro Detroit. During the program, students complete a week of intense study and instruction under the tutelage of 50 DSO musicans, including two hours a day in group rehearsal and two hours in sectionals. DSO's Young Musician Program to Host Two Community Concerts Thursday, Friday

As part of the DSO's AVANTI Summer MusicFest, going on now at Derby Middle School, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra will perform two concerts at the First Presbyterian Church of Birmingham this Thursday and Friday.

Music students from around Metro Detroit are learning from the greats this week and on Thursday and Friday, Birmingham will set the stage for a special concert for young area musicians. Musicians of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra (MDSO) will perform two concerts at the First Presbyterian Church of Birmingham on Thursday and Friday as part of the AVANTI Summer MusicFest. The AVANTI Summer MusicFest is a collaboration between the MDSO, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra (DSO) and Save Our Symphony (SOS). Derby Middle School to Host DSO Young Musician Program This Summer

The Detroit Symphony Orchestra will hold a six-day intensive workshop for teenage musicians in Birmingham this summer, culminating in a performance at Detroit's Orchestra Hall.

Metro Detroit's young musicians should start tuning those instruments in preparation for the Avanti Summer MusicFest, scheduled for July 16-21 at Birmingham's Derby Middle School. The six-day intensive camp is geared for musicians ages 14-18 and is hosted by the Detroit Symphony Orchestra (DSO), the Musicians of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra (MDSO) and Save Our Symphony (SOS). During Avanti, students will have the opportunity to train with DSO musicians and then perform on the world-renowned stage at historic Orchestra Hall in Detroit.
