Arson in Vacant Home; Television Monitor Taken from Church

Check out the latest reports from the Birmingham Police Department: Birmingham Police and Fire were called to a house fire on the 1800 block of Maryland on Sept. 22. The fire was started in the rear porch area, with the rear door window having been broken out. The fire was believed to be intentional, and minor damage was done to the porch area. Further investigation revealed the house had not been occupied for the past seven years. A 50-inch television monitor and bracket were taken from Holy Name Church sometime during the evening Sunday. Employees believe the property may have been taken by a contractor/employee who has access to the building. An investigation is ongoing.
