Michaele Love, of Roseville, died last week when pinned between two vehicles in a Birmingham parking lot. Police closed their investigation into the unusual and tragic incident.
The investigation into the crash that killed a Roseville woman in a downtown Birmingham parking lot last week technically remains open, but police said they believe they have a good understanding of what happened. Michaele Love, 45, was trying to push the mini-van she was driving into a spot in the surface lot at 333 S. Old Woodward Avenue after it stalled out near the entrance the afternoon on May 13, police reports said. The vehicle started to roll on an incline and sideswiped another vehicle, pinning Love — who was outside the vehicle — between them. Love was unresponsive when firefighters arrived and was pronounced dead on arrival at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. Crash investigators with the Oakland County Sheriff's Department …

The Birmingham Police Department has people and resources planned and in place for today's celebration, but they want your help too, chief says.
The Birmingham Police Department will have a strong, visible presence in today's Celebrate Birmingham Parade, and among the crowds anticipated to watch the community procession on South Old Woodward Avenue, Chief Don Studt said Friday. Despite recent tragedies like the Boston Marathon bombings, and last week's mass shooting at a Mother's Day parade in New Orleans that could raise concerns about 'soft' targets, the department has not seen a specific need to address how to deal with crowds in open events downtown. "I think everyone's aware of what's gone on recently in our country and in our world today, and importance of staying vigilant," Studt said. "You always want to be aware of your surroundings and people that are out there to cause…

Radio system will allow the agencies to communicate directly with each other and coordinate responses to cross-border emergencies.
Officials are hoping to boost safety for Oakland County and Detroit residents with an addition to the county's OakWIN interoperable radio system. The system will now use data from Detroit to make a communication link between all Oakland County and Detroit police, fire and EMS radios, according to a recent Oakland County press release. Using OakWIN, the public safety agencies will be able to communicate directly with each other and coordinate responses to cross-border emergencies. OakWIN is supported by the regional public safety data-sharing consortium CLEMIS - the Courts Law Enforcement Management Information System. “This is a boost to the safety of Oakland County and Detroit residents,” Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson said …
