I am extremely proud of the young men and women of the Groves High School Evergreen Singers forRead More their performance on "Celebrate America" last night. As statistics from the 2012 SAT exam show, students involved in choirs and other music ensembles score 35-70 points higher on both verbal and math sections of the exam than students who are not enrolled in music performance classes. The students of the Evergreen Singers consistently display the intellectual curiosity, collaborative work ethic, and creative problem-solving skills that are essential for our next generation of workers. The great thing about Dearborn in particular is that what all of the different cultures bring theRead More community as a whole. Here in Dearborn we are exposed to all different types of art be it historical, creative or musical. I'm happy to see the love affair with Art explode more into the public eye here in Dearborn. As Jessica says above, check out the Nagler exhibit. I took some classes from him in the past and the man is a cultural icon for Michigan, he studied with Ansel Adams the pioneer of American landscape photography. If you get to be there when he is around, stop and talk to him, he's got some great stories.

Dearborn is a great place for artists and art enthusiasts for many reasons. Art around theRead More town...have you noticed the incredible sculptures throughout downtown? Wonderful! Music everywhere...from summer concerts in the parks to the performing arts center, there is something for everyone! Young musicians, old musicians and everyone in between! Theater productions galore!...the players' guild, the DHS Thespians (I am soooo excited to see Beauty and the Beast in a few weeks!) Dearborn is a great place to be an artist and to partake!
