The Finance Department oversees much of the accounting processes in city government. Responsibilitis include maintaining financial records, budgeting, collection and billing, risk management, purchasing and debt administration. Finance also helps in the preparation of the city budget, and prepares a comprehensive annual financial report every year. This department also includes the activities of the Treasury Department. The Finance Department is located in City Hall, on Martin Street in downtown Birmingham.
