The Birmingham Covington Districtwide School (BCS) provides Birmingham students with a choice in their education, with a rigorous academic curriculum coupled with a unique approach to learning. here is also special attention paid to science, technololgy, problem-solving and hands-on learning.
Durng their time at BCS, students learn in multi-age classrooms, with grades paired during two-year academic cycles. Each cycle has a theme that promotes interdisplinary learning, and helps students understand the connections between academics and global issues.
Each grade at BCS has 108 students. Admission at BCS is based on an open enrollment period in January. In the event that reigstrations exceed the number of openings, there is a public lottery also held in January. Those who do not make it in can go on a waiting list.
