Hockeytown Goes Outdoors With Games, Music and Food

Hockey games, music and family activities are planned for the SiriusXM Hockeytown Winter Festival.

A full compliment of games, activities and family events at Comerica Park leading up to the NHL Winter Classic in Ann Arbor.

Here is the schedule of events for hockey fans heading to the festivities:

Great Lakes Invitational

Saturday, Dec. 28 3:30 p.m., consolation game
Saturday, Dec. 28 7 p.m., championship game

Ontario Hockey League doubleheader
1:30 p.m. Dec. 29, Windsor Spitfires vs. Saginaw Spirit
5 p.m. Dec. 29, London Knights vs. Plymouth Whalers

American Hockey League
5 p.m. Dec. 30, Toronto Marlies vs. Grand Rapids Griffins

2013 Maple Leafs vs. Red Wings Alumni Showdown

Outside of Comerica Park, the SiriusXM Hockeytown Festival features a number of hockey-related events including live music, autograph sessions and exhibits in the Coke Zero Fan Zone. Admission to the Fan Zone is free for ticket holders, or $5 non-ticket holders.

According to the Detroit Free Press, music acts include:

■ SATURDAY: Popular polka-rock band Polish Muslims (9 p.m., DRW) and the high-energy pop-punk fun of Kaleido (8 p.m., DRW).

■ SUNDAY: Blues/rocker Laith al Saadi (7 p.m., Molson) and Canadian pop/rock singer-songwriter Jody Raffoul (1:45 p.m., DRW).

■ MONDAY: Veteran entertainers Persuasion (7 p.m., Molson) and popular R&B/soul/blues singer Thornetta Davis (7 p.m., DRW).

  • Synthetic ice rink
  • Hockey Hall of Fame exhibit
  • Stanley Cup photo opportunity from 2:30 - 4:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 30, and noon - 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31. There is a $5 charge for all photo opportunities, with proceeds going to the Detroit Red Wings Foundation.
  • Alumni autograph sessions Dec. 27 - 30.
  • A 25-foot-tall, and 90-foot-long SnowZilla toboggan run. There is a $2 cost per slide.
  • Pick up street hockey games.
  • Fire pits to roast marshmallows and make S'mores.
