Dream Cruise, Dinosaurs and More This Weekend in Birmingham

11th Annual Champagne Cruise

Join the cause to benefit Forgotten Harvest, hosted by Westborn Market in Berkley at 6 p.m. The event features a taste fest by BD’s Mongolian Grill, Beans & Cornbread, Crispelli’s Bakery and Pizzeria, D’Amatos, Detroit Seafood Market, The Hudson Café, Overweis Dairy, Peteet’s Famous Cheesecakes, and more. 

Dream Drive

Take a 15-minute cruise down Woodward Avenue in a replica Shelby Cobra, Daytona Coupe, or a GT40 to get warmed up for the Woodward Dream Cruise. The Bloomfield Township Dream Drive takes off for it's second year at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 16 from the Comerica Bank at 36440 Woodward Ave. Tickets are $20, and include a photo. All proceeds benefit the Bloomfield Township Police Benevolent Association, Bloomfield Township Firefighters Charities, and the Bloomfield Hills Optimist Club.

Classic Car Show

Dream Cruise fans can get their fix at the Birmingham Cruise Event Classic Car Show from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Old Woodward Avenue between Lincoln Avenue and Merrill Street. Classic car parking will be available first-come, first-serve after 10 a.m. for $25 per vehicle, limited to model year 1978 of older. The entrance is at Brown Street. and Old Woodward.

Dinosaurs at Cranbrook

If classic cars aren't your thing, you can enjoy a different kind of classic at the Cranbrook Institute of Science. See more than 50 species of dinosaurs and contemporary marine reptiles, pterosaurs and birds from the world famous Hankla Collection. Open Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. - 10 p.m.; and noon - 4 p.m. Sunday.
