If you had your fill of travelling or visitors during Thanksgiving, then this is a weekend you'll want to be around town and enjoy what Birmingham has to offer. Here's a few events to keep you occupied.

Birmingham Winter Markt 

The Birmingham Winter Markt returns downtown to Shain Park this weekend. Enjoy shopping, food and local entertainment all weekend long. Check out http://www.enjoybirmingham.com for more information. Here are the 2013 Winter Markt times:
  • Friday, Dec. 6 - 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Saturday, Dec. 7 - 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Sunday, Dec. 8 - 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Birmingham-Bloomfield Symphony Orchestra

Music Director John Thomas Dodson will take the podium with featured guest artist Janet Sung in one of two performances with the BBSO at 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6 at Christ Church Cranbrook470 Church Rd. in Bloomfield Hills.

Birmingham Trains

The annual tradition of model trains in downtown Birmingham continues this month, starting on Saturday, Dec. 7, with a model train clinic at the Birmingham Historical Museum. The clinic is by appointment only, so call the museum at 248-530-1928 to register for a 15 minute slot.
