City Commission

The Birmingham City Commission meets at 7:30 p.m. Monday with a relatively agenda. Among items under consideration include a $10,000 contract for master planning services consultation with Duany Plater-Zyberk & Company, LLC; ordinance changes regarding begging and regular meetings in Part II of the City Code; and approving the meeting schedule for 2014. The commission will also meet in closed session to discuss legal issues. 

Birmingham Networking Event 

Join the Blackwood Club for an exclusive networking event at Fleming's Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar beginning at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27. Tickets are $15 if you RSVP before the event or $20 at the door, and include  appetizers for the first hour, exclusive drink specials and personal introductions to business professionals.

Birmingham Public Schools

The Birmingham Public Schools Board of Education will host a special meeting at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday and will meet in closed session to discuss the sale of district property. 

The Community House Fall Open House

Meet representatives from several of the sponsored clubs and groups at the Community House, and learn about the lasses offered during 20-minute mini-sessions beginning at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Seaholm Football

Maple Football returns at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29 as Birmingham Seaholm hosts Ann Arbor Pioneer at Maple Field. The Pioneers are ranked within the top 40 of the state and are coming off an 7-4 2012 season. The Maples were 8-2 overall last season, and undefeated (8-0) in the OAA Blue.
