Groves Band Invited To Perform in London and More in Birmingham

Mike Posner Returns

Recording artist and songwriter Mike Posner, a member of the class of 2006 at Groves High School, will speak to students and interested staff at the high school Monday during A and B lunch in the Little Theatre. Posner filmed a portion of his latest music video in the Detroit area over the weekend, including a stop at his alma mater that featured roughly 400 students. 

London Calling

The Groves High School Marching Band will host a special guest Monday in the Little Theatre at 7 p.m. Lord Mayor Catherine Longworth, former Mayor of the City of Westminster, and London Parade and Festival Founders and Directors Robert and Geraldine Bone will formally invite the band to perform in the 2015 New Year’s Day Parade and Festival in London, England. Local government and Birmingham Public Schools officials will be on hand to host the event.

"Get Published"

Join Diane Nine, president of Nine Speakers, Inc., a full service entertainment agency, to learn the ins and outs of publishing as she discusses her book "Get Published: A Guide to Literary Tips, Traps & Truth" at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Baldwin Public Library.

Young at any age

The Community House will host Lorraine Stefano, ACSW, who will lead a workshop that explores foods that help you to stay younger, exercises that make you stronger, and activities that boost your brain power, attitude and energy at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26. Registration is $23 and more information is available by calling 248-644-5832, or visiting the Community House website.


Vine and Dine

The Birmingham Bloomfield Chamber of Commerce hosts its 10th annual Vine & Dine gala benefitting Gleaner’s Community Food Bank of Southeast Michigan from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at Neiman Marcus at the Somerset Collection in Troy. The event will showcase the talents of students from Oakland Community College’s Culinary Institute, includes a fashion show featuring Neiman Marcus fall apparel, and a chance to win a diamond necklace valued at $3,800 from Astrein’s Creative Jewelers. Tickets are $75 each, and special corporate pricing is available for groups of 12 or more.
