“Military Appreciation Day is just one way to thank the men and women who give up so much to protect our freedom. Their families sacrifice, too, and so we want them to enjoy a carefree day of fun,” said Major Jimmy Wilson, Divisional Men’s Ministries Secretary for The Salvation Army of Metro Detroit. “The Salvation Army has a long history of military support dating back to 1917 when it served coffee and donuts to soldiers during World War I, to today’s assistance programs, including providing housing to veterans.”
