Yante Maten – Lahser High School (boys basketball): Bloomfield Hills Lahser won all three of its games last week and Yante Maten was at the center of everything. He had a “stellar night,” according to his coach, in a 75-69 win Tuesday over cross-town rival Andover. The sophomore had 17 points, 18 rebounds and seven blocks. The big man was also perfect 9-of-9 from the free throw line on the night. Wednesday, he had nine points, seven blocks and seven rebounds against Lincoln Consolidated and then on Friday had another double-double for the Knights with 16 points and 18 rebounds in a 56-45 win over Royal Oak.

Jacob Dotson – Ferndale High School (boys basketball): In his first game of the season, Jacob Dotson had a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds against Oak Park on Tuesday. Dotson is a 6-foot-6 transfer from Tennessee. In a key Oakland Activities Association Blue division game on Friday, Dotson had a big double-double with 21 points, 14 rebounds and three blocks. Ferndale won its sixth straight, 83-74 over the Oak Park Colts.

Rachel Rea came up huge against rival Bloomfield Hills Lahser on Thursday. She hit two 3-pointers in the first 90 seconds of the third quarter and scored 12 of her game-high 25 points in the quarter. Her scoring burst helped She had a game-high four 3-pointers in the game to help the Barons improve to 9-1 on the season and 7-1 in OAA Blue.

Bradley Zucker heated up the ice at Clark Park in Detroit on last weekend for Berkley-Ferndale unified. In an outdoor hockey game, he had a . He had a two-goal second period (3:17 and 9:38) and then completed a hat trick in the third on a goal (6:35) assisted by Luc Hammerle.
