Troy Athens’ Haley Zemmer: April 16-21 Patch Athlete of the Week

Red Hawks starting pitcher tops Berkley's Ian Kobernick in a competitive week of voting.

softball player won the , earning 48 percent of the 1,697 votes cast this week.

Zemmer, who netted 818 votes, edged out Berkley baseball player Ian Kobernick, who had 32 percent of the votes (559 votes) in a week of unscientific polling among Patch readers.

Zemmer won three games last week for the Athens varsity softball team. She won both, striking out 19 batters over two games.

At the plate, she had an RBI double in the first game. Friday, in a rain-shortened 9-0 win over Stoney Creek, Zemmer struck out nine batters in five scoreless innings.

Dominic Valente – Royal Oak High School (baseball): for the baseball team in a 2-0 win over Troy.

Ian Kobernick – Berkley High School (baseball): Ian Kobernick for the baseball team last week. He was 9-for-12 with seven RBIs and four steals. He also picked up a win on the mound against Southfield.

Lexie Brisson-Fast – (soccer): Lexie Brisson-Fast . The senior came back Thursday with all four of her team’s goals in a 4-4 tie against Farmington.
