Seaholm Vs. Brother Rice Shaping Up to be Game of the Week

You can still vote to make the 7 p.m. Friday tilt Channel 7's Game of the Week.

Friday's playoff game between Brother Rice High School and Seaholm High School for the district championship is proving to be one of the most anticipated match-ups of the season among football faithful.

Voters in both mlive.com's Metro Detroit Game of the Week poll and the Channel 7 Meijer Game of the Week tally already placed the 7 p.m. game at Hurley Field in Berkley at the top.

As of Tuesday morning, Roughly 60 percent of voters in the Channel 7 poll highlighted the game, well above the second-place Chippewa Valley vs. Macomb Dakota matchup at 24 percent. Detroit Country Day's game against Pontiac Notre Dame Prep was fourth. Voting continues through Wednesday, and the winner will be announced Thursday morning.

The Brother Rice-Seaholm game garnered nearly 50 percent of the vote in the mlive.com poll, more than double second-place Taylor Truman at Wyandotte Roosevelt (20.88). The Country Day game was third with about 11 percent of the vote, according to the website early Tuesday.

Expect more features in preview of the game on the mlive.com this week, and if the numbers continue the current trend, Channel 7 sports reporter Brad Gali will report live from the field on game day during the 5 p.m. And 6 p.m. News broadcasts. Highlights if the game will also be featured Friday night and Sunday night.
