Groves Dominates Second Half, Beats Bloomfield Hills 47-19

The Falcons offense proved just as potent on Saturday as they were before Friday night's rain delay.

Not even a 12-hour rain delay could stop the momentum carried by the Birmingham Groves Falcons in its season-opening contest at Bloomfield Hills.

Already propelled to a 34-13 lead at halftime by big plays on offense, tough defense and opportune special teams, the Falcons added two touchdowns when the game resumed Saturday on Dauch Field.

Ross Williams, who amassed nearly 200 rushing yards and scored three touchdowns on runs of more than 30 yards by halftime, finished with 233 yards on 17 carries, miprepzone.com reported.

“I think he’s one of the best players in the county for sure,” Head Coach Brendan Flaherty said of his senior tailback. “He’s extremely talented, and it’s good to see him turning into that complete player that we knew he could be.”

The Falcons were also tough on defense, forcing five turnovers. The team travels to Hazel Park (0-1) next week.
