Ferndale’s Lexie Brisson-Fast: May 28-June 2 Patch Athlete of the Week

The Eagles varsity girls soccer team's leading scorer captures the crown!

Ferndale’s Lexie Brisson-Fast wins the to give the Eagles their first winner of the spring season.

After a week of unscientific polling among Patch readers in Oakland County, Brisson-Fast had 92 votes or 46 percent of the total votes cast (200).

She beat Athens shortstop Melissa Palmer, who had 78 votes (39 percent), in a close vote.

Brisson-Fast helped Ferndale capture a district crown Saturday with three goals in a 5-0 win over Hazel Park. After the Vikings held her team scoreless for 20 minutes, the senior scored twice to the Eagles an advantage and help pave the way for the school’s first district title.

Taylor Morrissey – (baseball): Morrissey was 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs in a win over Groves. Against Lathrup, he was 2-for-4 with an RBI and three runs.

Erin Finn – (track and field): Erin Finn set a new all division record Saturday at the Division 1 state finals in the 3,200 meter run. She won an individual title with a time of 10:17.86. Finn broke Rochester’s Megan Goethal’s 2010 record by nearly five seconds (10:22.75).

Haley Zemmer – (softball): The Red Hawks pitcher pitched two complete games, both wins, at districts last weekend. At the plate, she was 4-for-8 with three runs, a homerun and two RBIs.

Melissa Palmer – Troy Athens High School (softball): Melissa Palmer kept getting on base for Athens at districts Saturday. In the district semifinals and finals, she went a combined 7-for-9 with three runs, two RBIs and two stolen bases.

Kyle Redwine – Avondale High School (track and field): Kyle Redwine won an individual Division 2 title in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.53.

Kendall Baisden – Detroit Country Day High School (track and field): Kendall Baisden had a good day at the Division 2 state finals a week ago. Baisden beat her own Division 2 record (54.91) in the 400-meter dash with a time of 54.58 on her way to a third straight individual title in the race.
