Elaine Coffman, #32: Country Day Team Has Had to Grow Up

Coffman's son, Cal, is a junior fullback/linebacker on the Country Day varsity football team.

Detroit Country Day School students and alumni love the school, and the football parents love and support their Yellowjackets. While the team played on the field, Patch went into the stands to tell the stories of the parents who help make everything possible.

Name: Elaine Coffman

Hometown: Birmingham

Growing pains: "Cal was hurt early in the year and missed the first part of the season. I'm not sure if the team was sure of themselves early on. Every game, they've had to grow up and since they've found themselves here, I think they've done a great job."

The state that Cal's grandmother came from to watch him playPennsylvania

Senior season: "Oh yes, it's very exciting for Poet to be here in his senior season. He loves the school and his team and he wants to go out with a bang."

They've grown together as a team....not had to grow up. Must have been loud.

Yesterday on my street, I saw a tree, on city property, with 'stuff' piled high around the base ofRead More the tree. I tried to tell the two gentlemen there it would eventually kill the tree. 'Not so!' they replied, according to, I believe, their landscaper. They then proceeded to try and placate this nosy gray haired woman. Maybe someone from the city could clue them in??
