The Yellowjackets beat Detroit Community 57-49 Saturday night in the Class B boys basketball finals.

The players and fans at Detroit Country Day are celebrating after the Yellowjackets brought home their ninth state championship Saturday night.

Country Day beat Detroit Community 57-49 Saturday night in East Lansing in the Class B state championship, MIPrepZone reports.

"Somebody has asked us if it ever gets old and (to answer them), no," head coach Kurt Keener told MIPrepZone.

According to MLive, it was Austin Price and Edmond Sumner who led the Yellowjackets on the scoreboard, with Price scoring 15 points to Sumner's 13. Six of those 15 points for Price were scored in the final eight minutes.

This is also the ninth state title for Keener, Country Day's veteran coach.

"When you surround yourself with quality people who are dedicated, and you've got great kids and a school that is going to foster that, my job is real easy, and I love it," Keener told The Detroit Free Press.

It's been a long and sometimes frustrating road for the Yellowjackets the past few seasons. After being crowned state champs in 2010, Country Day was knocked out of the tournament two years in a row at the semifinal level by Lansing Sexton.

This year, however, the Yellowjackets sailed by Flint Powers in the quarterfinals 79-61, then defeated Cadillac Friday night in the semifinals by an even bigger margin, 73-42.

With the 2012-13 season officially over, Detroit Country Day's boys team finishes the season with 25 wins and three losses. The Detroit Country Day's boys basketball team also won state championships in 1989, 1990, 1991, 1995, 1996, 1997 and 2007.
