Locally owned Spa Mariana appears in the highly touted Allure magazine’s October edition, as one of the “Best of the Best” for massages in Greater Detroit.
Allure, a Conde Nast publication out of New York, compilies the list by sending in local editors under cover to experience a variety of service from selected spas and salons in a regional area. Based on the experience at each facility rate the different on a star rating. A selected salon can receive from a 1 to 5 star rating. Spa Mariana rated 5 stars, the high rating you can receive from the magazine.
Located at 909 Haynes Street in beautiful Birmingham, Spa Mariana is owned by Maciek Lyko a former professional dancer who immigrated from Poland to pursue his dream of opening his own spa. “While dancing, I was severely injured and a blind massage therapist helped restore me to health,” said Lyko. “I knew then that I wanted to dedicate my life to healing others.”

Lyko worked tirelessly for decades to fulfill his dream. An expert in his field for more than 14 years, he finally realized his long held aspiration in May 2011 when he opened Spa Mariana to the public.
The spa’s concept is unique, for in addition to traditional massage and aesthetic services, such as deep tissue massage, european facials, waxing, and manicures/pedicures, Spa Mariana also offers Thai Massage and serves as an educational center for workshops and private instruction in the realms of Yoga, Feldenkrais Method, and other alternative therapies and mind/body studies.

When asked how he felt about the article in the October edition of Allure he responded, “We’re thrilled. We didn’t even know that someone from the publication had been in the spa for services.
