Summer School Tuition on School Board Agenda

The Birmingham Board of Education will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the district's administrative offices.

Summer school tuition rates, the Birmingham Education Foundation and more are topics for discussion at tonight's meeting of the Birmingham Board of Education.

School board meetings typically begin with a Superintendents Report and comments from individual school board members, followed by a public comment secton.

Those wishing to make public comment are encouraged to fill out a white card at the beginning of the meeting.

Reports

  • Laura Couger, executive director of the Birmingham Education Foundation, will speak to the school board. The Birmingham Education Foundation recently held their biggest fundraiser of the year, the BEF Bash.
  • Barbara Clark, the district coordinator for media and enrichment, will speak on Birmingham's 2013 Battle of the Books.

Resolutions

  • Personnel: Routine personnel action, including new hires, resignations, leaves of absences and retirements
  • Summer School: Establish the 2013 Summer School rates for high school, middle school and elementary school residents and non-residents
  • Vendor Contract: Award a contract to Advanced Lighting and Sound to install the video system in the new Board Room at the Birmingham Conference Center, which will become the school district's new administrative offices this summer.
