Snow Day Declared for Birmingham-Area Public, Private Schools

Sunday's winter storm prompted officials with Birmingham-area public and private schools to close Monday.

Students in the Birmingham Public Schools and surrounding private schools will not return for classes as expected Monday due to Sunday's severe winter storm.

Officials with the district announced the school closing late Sunday afternoon, as the heaviest snow predicted by the National Weather Service was yet to fall.

Nearby districts in Bloomfield Hills, Troy and West Bloomfield are also closed.

The following Birmingham-area private schools announced they are also closed Monday:

  • Academy of the Sacred Heart
  • Brother Rice High School
  • Cranbrook Schools
  • Detroit Country Day
  • Hillel Day School
  • Marian High School
  • Roeper Lower and Upper School
  • St. Hugo of the Hills School
