Roeper to Celebrate Fiesta-Style at Annual MOSAIC Auction

Birmingham Public Schools isn't the only group raising money this winter — the Birmingham- and Bloomfield Hills-based Roeper School will be raising scholarships funds this winter at the school's MOSAIC auction.

This year, the annual auction is themed ¡Viva Roeper! and scheduled for March 16 at the Detroit Athletic Club. Roeper, which has its upper school campus in Birmingham, caters to gifted students.

Funds raised at the MOSAIC auction benefits Roeper's Mariann Hoag Financial Aid Program and is named so because of the "many different people from so many different backgrounds that come together to make the event and Roeper so great," schools spokesperson Carri Hammers said.

"Roeper strongly supports the notion that giftedness is not limited by gender, ethnicity, race or socioeconomic status," she added.

New this year, Roeper wil be unveiling the MOSAIC wall, which will provide guests with more than 130 ways of giving back to the school.

According to Hammers, Roeper students play many important roles in the success of the auction.

"Many lower and middle school students have created collaborative projects in their classrooms to be sold in the auction, while upper and middle school students will volunteer at the event to assista guests with electronic bidding," she said.

A jazz trio made up of Roeper students will also provide live, fiesta-inspired entertainment throughout the evening.

Tickets to the auction, available through March 4, are $80 each or $800 for a table of 10. The ticket price includes dinner and both silent and live auctions. Prizes include:

• Tickets to The Late Show with David Letterman.
• An "instant wine cellar" complete with more than 30 bottles of wine.
• A Chicago getaway.
• A two-night stay at the Hotel LeBristol in Paris, France.
• Disney Park Hopper passes.
