New Charter High School Opens This Fall in Beverly Hills

Information session being held Wednesday for the tuition-free, blended high school.

A new charter high school is currently hosting information sessions inviting parents and potential students to learn more about the new "blended" learning option.

Nexus Academy of Royal Oak, located at 31333 Southfield Road in Beverly Hills, is ready to open its doors for the 2013-14 school year, according to a press release from the school.

Nexus Academy, which now has three locations in Michigan, offers blended online and classroom learning in a non-traditional campus setting. Teachers at the tuition-free school interact with students both online and on-site.

Families interested in learning more about the school can attend a variety of information sessions, including a meet-and-greet with the principal from 7:30-9 a.m. Wednesday, July 24 at Tim Horton's in Southfield (29069 Greenfield Road).

“Nexus Academy offers students a unique opportunity to learn both online and at our physical campus,” Principal Dale Bernard said in the press release. “This setting is ideal for students who need flexibility in order to participate in other activities, such as internships, sports or the arts. I encourage interested families to come out to one of our events to learn more about blended learning options.”

Nexus Academy of Royal Oak will enroll a maximum of 300 students to ensureoptimal personal attention, the release states. The school is authorized by Central Michigan University and is governed by a local Board of Trustees.
