The Dance

The homecoming dance begins at 8 p.m. at the high school. According to Groves principal Fred Proctor, students must arrive by 9 p.m. and stay at the dance until 10:15 p.m.

"Please be advised that this dance is not the time to rent a limo or party bus," Proctor said in an email to parents. "This is a school dance, in the school, with a few decorations, and a semi-formal attire expectation."

The dance ends at 11 p.m. and students are expected to either drive or be driven home. Proctor said parents should be aware of what their students are doing after the dance, reminding parents that they are legally required to maintain a substance-free setting at any "after-parties."

"My dad always said that 'Nothing good happens after midnight!'" Proctor said. "So please discuss a reasonable time for your child to return home."

For groups or dates looking to get a bite to eat before the dance, the Groves Student Congress has published a list of area restaurants at its blog, The Groves Guide, perfect for pre-dance dinners.
