Feature Photo: Japanese Drummers Visit With Birmingham Students

Today's feature photo comes from Birmingham Public Schools, who documented a visit from the Great Lakes Taiko Center to Groves High School.

Drummers from the Novi-based Great Lakes Taiko Center — a Japanese cultural organization — visited Japanese students at on Jan. 20. Students were instructed in the traditional use of Japanese drums, as well as their other more conventional uses.

In the photo above, principal Jason Clinkscale, Japanese and math teacher Yoshi Mason and Berkshire eighth grader Shelby Pitts were invited onstage to perform with the group.
