Birmingham Special Education Parent Committee Seeks New Members

Interested parents can meet current members Wednesday, April 10 or Thursday, April 11 at Starbucks.

The Birmingham Public Schools Special Education Parent Advisory Committee is seeking new members for the 2013-14 school year.

According to the district's web site, the purpose of the Parent Advisory Committee is to collaborate with the special education department to promote the development of programs and services that optimize the academic and functional achievement of students receiving special education support services.

Parents interested in becoming a member of the committee are encouraged to review the PAC web site and frequently asked questions.

Parents can also meet and ask questions of current PAC members at two events this week, both held at the Starbucks at Maple and Lahser.

  • 6-7 p.m. Wednesday, April 10
  • 11 a.m. to noon Thursday, April 11

The deadline to apply to be on the committee is April 26.
