2010 MEAP Scores: Groves High School

At Groves, social studies scores beat state averages by 11 percentage points.

Results for the Michigan Educational Assessment Program (MEAP) exam were released March 31, showing Birmingham students continue to excel.

“We continue to do very well,” Birmingham Community Relations director Marcia Wilkinson said. “We’re very pleased with the scores.”

During the MEAP exam, taken during fall 2010, students in grades 3-9 were tested in math, reading, writing, social studies and/or science, depending on the grade level.

At the high school level, ninth-graders were tested in social studies. At , students exceeded the state average for social studies — statewide, 73 percent of ninth-graders met or exceeded proficiency standards in the subject.

High school juniors also took the Michigan Merit Exam (MME) in March, a test which consisted of three parts: the ACT, the WorkKeys job skills assessment and a Michigan-based assessment of how well students perform in math, science and social studies. The combined score measures student learning according to Michigan high school standards.
