Who's Running for Local Office in the November Election?

Birmingham will vote on two school board seats during the November general election.

The primaries are over, which means local, state and national candidates are working full steam-ahead for the November general election.

We know who will be on the ballot for various state and regional elections, but many local races didn't make it onto last week's primary ballot. The deadline for village and school board candidates to file was 4 p.m. Tuesday, so who's in the running this fall?

In Birmingham, the only local election will be to fill two spots on the . School board members serve four-year terms.  In the running are:

Geri Rinschler

  • Incumbent
  • On the school board since 1996
  • Currently serving as the board's Legislative Relations Network member
  • Birmingham resident

Michael Fenberg

  • Incumbent
  • On the school board since 2004
  • Currently serving as school board president
  • Birmingham resident

Mary Blake

  • Challenger
  • Bloomfield Hills resident

John Connelly

  • Challenger
  • Birmingham resident

In addition, Birmingham residents Gillian Levy and David Trott are running for one of two spots on the Oakland Community College Board of Trustees. Board members serve six-year terms.

Birmingham is still pretty small, so how about the local elections happening right outside its borders?

Beverly Hills

In Beverly Hills, residents will be asked to fill three open spots on the Beverly Hills Village Council. Running for the spots are:

  • Jacqueline Kelly
  • Brian LaFerriere
  • John Moony
  • Tony Lott
  • Marianne McLennan

Bloomfield Hills

In Bloomfield Hills, residents will be asked to vote for two members of the Bloomfield Hills Board of Education, while also voting for one person to serve a partial term on the school board.

Running for two regular seats on the Bloomfield Hills Board of Education (to serve six-year terms) are:

  • Howard Baron
  • Ingrid Day
  • W.F. Moigis

Running for the partial term (to end Dec. 31, 2014) are:

  • Joan Berndt
  • Robert Herner
  • Jenny Greenwell
