Townhouse Expansion, The Stand Comes to Planning Board Wednesday

The Stand

The Planning Board will hold a public hearing for , in the Greenleaf Trust building at the corner of Woodward and Maple.

Zazios announced that it would be closing at the end of January however developers say the restaurant has instead scaled back its operations and will close this spring.

Developers at the Greenleaf Hospitality Group looking to transfer the existing Economic Development License formally held by Zazios to The Stand. Because The Stand will completely remodel the space and offer a new menu, the restaurant will also present its site plan to the Planning Board for final review.

Townhouse

Townhouse, a bistro located at the corner of Pierce and Martin, will also come before the Planning Board Wednesday with a request to expand their outdoor dining platfom. They will also need to amend their original Special Land Use Permit as well as a final site plan review.

Other Planning Board actions:

  • The Planning Board will hold a public hearing to decide whether to amend the city code regarding window standards.
  • During a study session, planning board members will discuss its action list for 2013 as well as the issue of conditional rezoning — an issue thrust into the spotlight when developers sought to rezone a vacant lot so they could build apartments. The Birmingham City Commission voted down the rezoning on Monday.
