Need to Know: Getting to Know Your Primary Ballot

The presidential primary is today; get a sneak peek at the ballot before you head to the polls.

Heading to the polls to cast your vote today in Michigan's presidential primary, but you want a sneak peek at what your ballot (whether that's Democratic of Republican) will look like?

The city has provided residents with a preview of Tuesday's ballots, one for either party. Remember: Tuesday is a closed primary, which means that voters must select either a Republican Party or Democratic Party ballot type in order to vote. Voters can do this on the application to vote at their precinct or on their application for an absentee ballot.

Those voting on the Democratic Party ballot can only choose between President Barack Obama or "uncommitted." Those voting for Republican candidates will be able to choose from:

  • Mitt Romney

Many candidates have dropped out of the race since the ballot was drawn up, City Clerk Laura Broski said; Romney, Santorum, Paul and Gingrich are still candidates, but only Romney, Santorum and Paul have campaigned in Michigan.
