Kerry Bentivolio Opens New Office in Washington

Bentivolio represents the new 11th District — which now includes Birmingham — in Congress.

Birmingham's newest representative in Washington was officially sworn in last week and now, Kerry Bentivolio (R-11 District) says he's ready to help his constituents.

Bentivolio, who defeated Democrat Syed Taj during the general election in November, was sworn in as a member of the 113th Congress on Jan. 3, representing Michigan's newly-redrawn 11th District.

That district now includes Birmingham, which was moved from Michigan's 9th Congressional District — formerly represented by Democrat Gary Peters — into the 11th District in August 2011.

The new 11th District encircles the southern half of Oakland County and includes everything from parts of Clawson and Troy, Bloomfield Hills, Milford and all the way south to Canton and Plymouth.

"I'm privileged to have the opportunity to represent the people of Michigan’s 11th  Congressional District," Bentivolio said last week in a statement. "My top priority is to fight for common-sense solutions in Washington and provide superb constituent services to the people of southeast Michigan."

After a bitter fight, Bentivolio was elected to office in November with 52 percent of the vote.

"We're going to go to Washington, and we're going to represent the 11th District like it's never been represented before," Bentivolio said during his acceptance speech on election night.

During his first term, Bentivolio has been assigned to serve on both the Oversight and Government Reform and Small Business committees.

Bentivolio can now be reached at both his regional offices and Washington offices:
