Incumbents Come Out On Top in Oakland County Races

Incumbents L. Brooks Patterson and Michael J. Bouchard win the Republican nominations in their respective races by a wide margin.

Oakland County incumbents had an easy night on Tuesday, as the results trickled in from the Aug. 7 primary.

County Executive

Republican incumbent L. Brooks Patterson received 89.8 percent of the vote Tuesday night, defeating challenger E. Wadsworth Sherrod III, who received 9.96 percent of the vote.

In the November election, Patterson will face Democratic candidate Kevin Howley, who ran unopposed.

County Commissioner - 12th District

Republican incumbent Shelley Goodman Taub won her uncontested primary Tuesday night with 99 percent of the vote. She will face Democrat Paul Secrest, who also ran unopposed in his primary.

Prosecuting Attorney

Incumbent Jessica Cooper ran unopposed in the Democractic primary. In November, Cooper will face Republican Mike Bishop, who also ran unopposed.

Oakland County Sheriff

Incumbent Michael J. Bouchard received 87.9 percent of the vote to defeat challenger James Stevens for the Republican nomination. In the November election, Bouchard will face Democrat Jane Felice Boudreau, who ran unopposed.  

Clerk/Register of Deeds

Incumbent Bill Bullard ran unopposed for the Republican nomination. In November, Bullard will face Democrat Lisa Brown, who also ran unopposed.

Treasurer

Republican candidate Marty Knollenberg will face Democrat Andy Meisner in November. Both candidates were uncontested in the primary.

Water Resources Commissioner

Jim Nash received 61.3 percent of the vote to defeat Mark Danowski for the Democratic nomination for the Water Resources Commissioner. In November, Nash will now face Republican incumbent John McCulloch, who ran unopposed.

Circuit Court judge - 6th District

The top three candidates to move on from the primary stage will be: Karen McDonald, who led with 35.4 percent of the vote; Dan Christ, with 22 percent; and Jason Pernick, who finished with 15.9 percent of the vote.

District Court - 48th District

The top two candidates from the 48th District ballot will move forward to the November election. Moving forward will be: incumbent Diane D'Agostini and Josh Arnkoff.

Oakland County Public Transportation Millage

The millage, , passed with 79 percent of voters in support of renewing 0.59 mills.
