In Brief: Planning Board Approves Final Site Plans for Brewing Company

Market bistro and the Griffin Claw Brewing Company receive Planning Board approval; decision postponed for Social Kitchen.

Plans for two bistros and a proposed brewery highlighted Wednesday night's meeting of the Birmingham Planning Board.

This is the second time the Griffin Claw Brewing Company, proposed to be located at 563 S. Eton St., came before the Planning Board. The brewery's initial plans .

The decision to reccomend , the other proposed bistro for 2012, was postponed by a 5-1 vote after many Planning Board members said they didn't feel they had sufficient time to review changes to the plans received late Wednesday. Member Janelle Boyce voted against the motion to postpone.

Members of the public rose in protest, and some in support, of both Market and Griffin Claw Brewing Company. Both facilities are near residential properties, drawing several complaints from residents about the potential for noise and traffic problems.

Board member Bryan Williams strongly advised that the city look into efforts to enforce cut-through traffic around Market and the proposed brewery. In addition, Williams suggested both restaurants looking at capping their business hours when they present plans to the City Commission.
