Young Man Struck, Killed by Amtrak Train Near Big Beaver, Adams

Emergency workers were at the scene of a fatal crash near Big Beaver Road and Adams in Bloomfield Township Saturday night.

Authorities are still investigating after a Bloomfield Township man, 18, was struck and killed by an Amtrak train in nearby Bloomfield Township Saturday night.

According to WDIV Channel 4, the accident occurred in the area of Big Beaver and Adams Road around 8 p.m. Saturday, near the Kensington Road and Iron Gate Bridge.

Officials from the Bloomfield Township Police Department were not available for comment Sunday and did not release the name or any further details about the man.

The Oakland Press reported the man ran in front of the train, which was heading northbound toward Pontiac. None of the 11 passengers on board were injured.
