Woman Says Her Handbag, iPhone Was Stolen at Corner Bar

Corner Bar theft occurred late Saturday night, reports state

Police are investigating after a Tori Birch handbag and iPhone was stolen at Birmingham's The Corner Bar last weekend. According to police reports, the items belonged to a 33-year-old Troy woman who was at the bar Saturday night and into early Sunday morning.

The woman told police she left the handbag (with her phone inside) in her booth while she walked around the bar, sometime between 1:30-2 a.m. When she returned, the bag was gone, she said. A witness said she saw three women hanging near the booth around the time of the theft.

Residents report packages stolen from their front porches

Police are investigating after two packages were stolen from Birmingham front porches during the past week and a half.

The first incident occurred around noon Wednesday, Feb. 20 on the 1400 block of Ruffner. A resident told police a package containing a Toshiba laptop had been delivered to her home by UPS, but was then stolen sometime that afternoon.

Similarly, a resident on the 1200 block of Edgewood reported that a package containing a cable box was also stolen from his front porch. According to police reports, the package contained his DIRECTV cable box and was taken sometime between 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 21 and 6:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 22.

Police say there are no suspects or witnesses in either case.

Man with blood alcohol content four times the legal limit arrested after three-car accident

Birmingham Police arrested several people on drunk driving charges this week, including:

  • A 31-year-old man from Troy was arrested at the scene of a three-car accident on Adams Road, near Lincoln, around midnight on Thursday, Feb. 21. Police said he had a blood alcohol content more than four times the legal limit. Besides being cited for operating while intoxicated, he was also cited for driving with a suspended license.
  • A 50-year-old Birmingham woman was arrested around 11 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23 after she backed her car into another vehicle at Kako's Market, police reports state. She was also found to be under the influence of alcohol.
  • A 24-year-old Rochester Hills man was arrested on Woodward, just north of Big Beaver, around 2:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 21. Police originally pulled him over for erratic driving, reports state.
