Woman Driving Wrong Way Nabbed for Drunk Driving, Decorative Fence 'Decapitated'

Drunk driving arrests include woman driving wrong way on Woodward

Birmingham Police arrested several drivers in Birmingham over the past week for drunk driving, including:

  • A 32-year-old woman from Troy was pulled over near Woodward and 14 Mile around 1:30 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 9. The woman was pulled over for swerving from lane to lane. Police say her blood alcohol concentration was more than twice the legal limit.
  • A 27-year-old woman from Bloomfield Hills was pulled over around 1 a.m. Friday, Dec. 7 near Woodward and Manor. The woman was pulled over for erratic driving and according to reports, her blood alcohol concentration was more than twice the legal limit.
  • A 37-year-old woman from Royal Oak was arrested for drunk driving near Woodward and Oak a little after midnight on Thursday, Dec. 13. The woman was driving north in the southbound lane of Woodward and police say her blood alcohol concentration was more than twice the legal limit.

Horse-head decorative fence damaged on Redding

A fence-full of decorative horse heads was decapitated sometime last week, Birmingham police report.

According to police reports, a resident on the 1800 block of Redding said a decorative fence in his front yard had been damaged. The fence consisted of 20 white poles topped with horse heads connected by chains, reports state.

At 9 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, police officers found several poles had been pulled out of the ground and thrown around the front yard, along with several horse heads and the chains. Approximately 15 of the 20 horse heads could not be found.

Police believe the incident occurred sometime between 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5 and the following Thursday morning. Police say there are no suspects at this time.

Wiper stolen, tires deflated on Graefield; resident note grills messed with nearby

Police are investigating after a resident on the 700 block of Graefield reported someone had tampered with his car sometime Saturday night.

Reports state that the man had his wiper stolen from his vehicle and when he discovered the theft on Sunday morning, he found his passenger side rear tire was deflated.

The resident told police that he noticed his propane grill had been tampered with recently. Grills from several nearby homes had also been tampered with, he said, including at least one theft of a propane tank.

Also on Graefield, a vehicle parked on the 600 block was keyed along the door panel sometime between Wednesday, Dec. 5 and Sunday, Dec. 9. Police have no suspects in that case.

Cell phone disappears from Peabody's

A cell phone was stolen at Peabody's Restaurant around 5 p.m. Monday. A man eating dinner at the restaurant left his cell phone at a table and left the restaurant. When he returned five minutes later, reports state, the phone was gone and no one at the restaurant remembered seeing the phone.
