Vehicle Vandalized, Engagement Ring Stolen in Birmingham

The Birmingham Police Department provided the following information. Arrests, where they are mentioned, do not indicate conviction.

The Birmingham Police Department arrested a man hired for contract work in a home for allegedly stealing an engagement ring, reports said.

A resident in the 1200 block of Puritan called police last week to report the ring stolen, and told officers they suspected an employee of a contractor working in the home. Police arrested the man without incident and said they hope to recover the ring, which was taken Oct. 10. Charges are pending.

Vehicle Damaged

A man told police that he parked his 2013 Cadillac ATS in the Park Street Parking Structure on Oct. 12 and found deep scratches along the driver's side front door when he returned. Police said the damage extended to the rear door and rear panel. The damage reportedly occurred sometime between 6:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m., reports said. No suspect information was available and the incident remains under investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to call the department at 248-530-1870.
