Thefts Reported at Seaholm, New Birmingham Business

The Birmingham Police Department provided the following information. Arrests, where they are mentioned, do not indicate conviction.

 

Locker theft at high school

A student's cell phone and cash were taken from a locker at Seaholm High School last week, reports said. Officers with the Birmingham Police Department are currently reviewing surveillance video footage to try and determine who stole the items from the men's locker room, according to reports released Friday.

The property was reportedly in the pocket of a pair of pants inside an unlocked locker. The student reported the theft occurred at about 11 a.m. May 10.

Shoplifter grabs expensive jacket

A leather jacket valued at $1,200 was stolen from the Found Objects clothing and lifestyle store last week, police reports said.

Officers with the Birmingham Police Department responded to a call from an employee of the new shop, located at 241 E. Merrill Street, at about 1:30 p.m. on May 11. The employee said she believed a woman may have taken the green and brown jacket into the dressing room and put it on under her own coat, reports said. The woman is described as white and in her 20s. She wore a green jacket and blue jeans, reports said. Found Objects is a luxury-lifestyle store that opened in March
